Hiking Without Supervision

Tales from the trail (aka Senior Moments)

April 29,30: Downtime can be productive

We have totally had enough of this Cotswold shite. Too many Fn-B hills and crap weather. Accommodations could not be found anywhere for the next two days, apparently some music festival going on, so we had to do a jump ahead to Stratford-upon-Avon: the birthplace and home of Shakespeare (his wife and his son and daughter, the things you learn).

Lovely wee place except for all the tourists.

We decided on a detour to Warwick Castle. Loads of history there and the plan was to walk back to Stratford and get some miles in. Well we had a total GTF moment at the castle, they wanted 30 pounds each to go visit. No fn way… there were hundreds of people going into that place and 2/3 of them were rug rats under the age of eight. (Am I turning into Murray?).

So we had a wander around, something to eat, and since I was freezing, we took the bus back. So not a totally wasted two days, but it felt like it… although just wandering around we managed to get in a decent amount of miles, just not sweaty miles.

I want to thank all of you for the nice comments on the blog. I would love to say that I will try not to swear as much, but those of you that know me really well, know that I would be lying. My cousin Margaret sent me this gem, and she is right, at the rate I am going, I will be able to bugger off to Spain for a month.

About Me

Hiya! I’m Cathie and I love to walk and hike. I’m totally addicted to long miles, preferably in the sun. Whether it’s a few miles or hundreds of miles, I like to gear up, get out, and just go.
