Last night we stayed in a place called Wotten-under-Edge, at The Swan Hotel which was built in the 17th Century. Obviously there have been a few updates since then but the sense of history can be felt.

We went to see the Almshouses before we headed out for the day. Such an interesting story. Try this if you feel like reading more. https://thirdeyetraveller.com/perry-and-dawes-almshouses-wotton-under-edge/

The weather was cool and breezy as we started off for a 15 mile day. Of course we started off up a Fn-B hill and when we got to the top we agreed there was no fucking way we were doing this shite for 15 miles.

We walked through a lot of forests today and across a golf course. And just can’t understand why there are no switchbacks. Instead each incline is seriously straight up.

There were lots of Triple G (Great, Great, Grandfather) moments so we could catch our breath. There were lots of GTF moments too.
As we came into a little village there was a sign for Tea and Cakery so we had to investigate. Good decision.

As it turned out the weather made a decision for us. After about 8 miles of up and down, the heavens opened up. We took refuge in a pub but the rain didn’t stop. The trails were already slick and steep and we felt would be really dangerous with more rain. So we hopped a bus to our accommodation looking like two drowned rats.
