Hiking Without Supervision

Tales from the trail (aka Senior Moments)

May 5, 6, 7, 8

Friday: feeling a little under the weather but it might have been the wine last night. Breakfast with Ricky, Fiona, Jimmy, Jackie, and Stuart at The Tay View, couldn’t see across the river to Fife, so much fog. A little retail therapy with Fiona, then watched Dundee win the cup and be promoted to the Premier League (real life Ted Lasso). Best football match I have ever watched. Even Ricky, a die-hard United supporter, thought it was a good game. Looked for John and Amber throughout the whole match and finally found her at the end singing away.

Saturday: Still feeling a little under the weather especially after I eat. Had lunch with Margaret and Angela at The Anchor and watched some of the Coronation. Not as big a deal in Scotland as it is in England. In fact 7 out of 10 people in Scotland could care less about the Royals and their shenanigans. After lunch cocktails at The Bruach, then back to the Broughty Ferry Castle Bowling Club for some more cocktails and watch the bowls.
Saturday night – disaster, very very ill. Thank God that Fiona was home, she found me in a very unladylike position in the toilet. Didn’t know which end to put in the bowl. Totally spoiled her buzz… sorry about that Fee.

Sunday: Oh boy, can’t move, feeling so very bad. Some of it may have been self-inflicted but some of it not. Felt better after a nap, but back to feeling bad after eating. Slept sitting up.

Monday: Feeling a wee bit better so took a quick walk along Riverside and a wander through the town to see if I am ready to go on a longer walk. Later on, after a nap of course, went up to John and Myra’s to see the fam-peeps and watch Dundee win the cup, again. Great night watching football and didn’t feel too bad after eating. (Defo no booze.)

Looks like the impromptu walk across Scotland will start on Tuesday.
