May 4: Time to recover and plan

The boys (DB and Eric) will be joining me in Manchester on May 17, so I am basically ahead of the plan. When they arrive, we will tackle the Pennine Way. Unfortunately we could not find accommodations for Murray, so he will rest and recover in London for a couple weeks then meet me later up north.

That means I have to keep my fitness up and my legs moving for the next 10 days or so. The Pennines are apparently harder than the Cotswolds, and the Cotswolds pretty much beat me down. So, I’m taking a couple of days to recover and while doing that, plan some hikes to keep the miles going – stay tuned!

However, I have to tell you what an amazing day I had doing nothing. Who knew doing nothing could be so much fun.

First stop was getting a coffee and train to Dundee where my brother John picked me up and took me to his house for a cup of tea and a blether. Myra had the kettle on and brought out the biscuit tin. (If I had known she was going to be making bacon rolls, I would have skipped the icky sandwich from M&S.) But, Myra always has the most amazing biscuits (cookies), so I was in heaven with Caramel Wafers ( and tea and a pee for free).

Then I was dropped off at Fiona and Ricky’s where I will spend the next few days. Took a nap of course, then Chez FeeFee served the best ever meal and Ricky served the best ever wine. We watched music videos, oldies and goodies, and got caught up.

Doing NOTHING! Fabuloso day!!

About Me

Hiya! I’m Cathie and I love to walk and hike. I’m totally addicted to long miles, preferably in the sun. Whether it’s a few miles or hundreds of miles, I like to gear up, get out, and just go.
